Maldives government have announced the total lockdown exercised across Greater Male’ Region will be officially lifted on Monday, 15 June 2020.

With this, all previous restrictions on the public in going out will no longer remain effective while several businesses are gearing up to open under the ‘New Normal.’

Though the lockdown is lifted for the region, domestic travels from Male’ to outside of the region have been restricted as the outbreak have not been fully quashed.

However, with the recent recovery cases surpassing that of active cases, the island nation is possibly looking towards a silver lining.

The Covid-19 virus still remain without a reported cure, and it is still not fully countered.

As the Greater Male’ Region expect a lockdown lift on coming Monday, the possibilities over a second-wave of the virus becomes more and more harrowing.

30 April: total spending was recorded at MVR665.4 million. The spending committed by Ministry of Health and NDMA contributed to 91.2% of all spending.

07 May: total spending towards Covid-19 related efforts stood at MVR814.2 million, marking a 22.4% increase compared to previous week. Both Ministry of Health and NDMA continue to contribute towards majority (91.5%) of all spending.

14 May – the total spending towards Covid-19 related efforts increased by 7.3% from the previous week. The total state spending towards curbing the pandemic spread in Maldives have reached MVR873.3 million.
