Bank of Maldives (BML) have provided financial assistance for five community based projects various local islands.
According to BML, their ‘Aharenge Bank’ initiative will seek to provide assistance for individuals and local NGOs towards their community projects.
Moreover, the bank have issued assistance to the five most eligible products through various proposals received during first quarter.
As per BML, the awarded projects are;
- Community park project at Shaviyani atoll Kanditheemu – Awarded to Jinan Mohamed
- Development of library at Alif Alif Atoll Education Center – Awarded to Ismail Shimau
- Picnic area at Thaa Veymandoo Beach – Fahud Abduh-Shakoor
- Skate park project at Gaaf Dhaal Vaadhoo – Huvadhoo Association for Tourism (HAT)
- Special park for the elderly at Addu City Feydhoo – Shimla Ahmed
Meanwhile, the bank’s Public Relations Manager Mohamed Saeed highlighted on challenges due to Covid-19 pandemic.
Moreover, Saeed posits community fund projects have faced financial difficulties in light of the pandemic affecting the economic drive of Maldives.
However, he notes the bank remains committed in their initiative to provide assistance towards beneficial community projects.
Furthermore, BML’s ‘Aharenge Bank’ initiative has catalyzed effective community projects that had been otherwise sluggish earlier.
So far, BML has provided assistance through ‘Aharenge Bank’ to 25 different islands in their various community projects.
