Ministry of Tourism confirm over 40 resorts of Maldives will become operational coinciding with border reopening.
Earlier, Maldives government made the announcement of reopening borders and lifting international travel restrictions on 15 July 2020.
Meanwhile, Ministry of Tourism claim a total of 42 resort islands will become operational around the same time.
Moreover, the government body made a release of a tentative report indicating future reopening of other tourist venues.
Furthermore the ministry claims 08 resorts remained operational amid the Covid-19 pandemic which includes:
- Four Seasons Private Island at Voavah
- Four Seasons Landaa Giraavaru
- Lily Beach Resort
- LUX* North Male’ Atoll
- OBLU by Atmosphere at Helengeli
- Sonevafushi Maldives
- Angsana Velavaru
- Velaa Private Island
Additionally, the ministry’s report confirm reopening of 25 tourist properties in the upcoming month of August while another 28 properties will reopen in September.
As per Ministry of Tourism 47 additional resorts will reopen on October – closing towards the final quarter of 2020.
Meanwhile, remaining tourist properties will reopen at various periods of the following year.
At the time of border closure on 27 March, the island nation had over 150 operational resorts.
