Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) confirms harbor repair and dredging project underway at Raa atoll Vandhoo.

According to the contractor, the project observes an overall 12% progress while dredging of harbor basin is complete.

Meanwhile, MTCC further claims demolition of existing quay wall structures were ongoing.

The concrete blocks necessary for construction of new quay wall have reached project site already.

Furthermore, the contractor notes the project involves demolition of existing cement-bag structures, dredging and excavation works of harbor basin spanning 1,870 cubic meters.

Additionally the construction of a 75 meter new quay wall.

Delivery and installation of precast blocks and back-filling of quay walls with dredged materials will commence as well.

Maldives government contracted MTCC for the project on 26 August 2019 for an approximate project value of MVR5.99 million.
