Maldives arriving tourist tests positive for Covid-19


On Monday, 27 July, health authorities made confirmation of a tourist arrival testing positive for Covid-19.

As such, the positive case marks the first such case since borders reopened in Maldives.

Earlier, Maldives government officially lifted travel restrictions on 15 July, marking the border reopening.

Reports indicate authorities testing the tourist despite not showing symptoms of the viral contagion, but through a random sampling.

Meanwhile, health authorities confirm of transferring the individual to isolation.
