Maldives government has made a total disbursement of MVR43.6 million in Income Support Allowance.
Moreover, under the state initiative it has made disbursement of the allowance to a total of 5,440 individuals.
According to the recent statistics from Ministry of Finance, the disbursement total is as of 13 August 2020.
Earlier Maldives government made announcement of the Income Support Allowance in order to provide financial assistance to the working class in light of the Covid-19 global pandemic.
The global pandemic not only slowed down the country’s economy but forced several local ventures to temporarily cease business activities.
Subsequently this led to many of the working class individuals facing redundancies and lay-offs from their respective employers.
In order to offset and mete out the public plight the government made introduction of the scheme; under which registered individuals receive the said assistance.
