Maldives government on Sunday made announcement of extending the ongoing State of Public Health Emergency until October.
Moreover, Health Protection Agency (HPA) gave the confirmation noting the period of Public Health Emergency will extend until 6 October 2020.
Following government’s decision to lift off restrictions on the lockdown measures, Maldives experienced a second wave of Covid-19 outbreak.
Meanwhile over 30 islands report active cases, outside of Greater Male’ Region.
As of 6 September, total number of Covid-19 cases stood at 8,564 – inclusive of recoveries and active cases.
Additionally, a total of 22 different resorts report presence of active cases as well. The islands are observing lockdown measures with travel restrictions both in and out.
