Switzerland officially recommences flight operations to Maldives on Monday, 28 September.
The European country’s premier airliner Edelweiss, had its flight make landing on Monday morning at Velana International Airport (VIA) marking operational recommencement.
Earlier, the country much like many other major destinations put their flight operations to Maldives on halt due to Covid-19 pandemic.
Meanwhile, Switzerland remains a key tourist market to Maldives which explains why the resumption in flight operations.
Edelweiss will operate direct flights between Zurich and VIA.
Moreover, the airline will operate two flights per week with booking options available now.
In 2019, tourists from Switzerland to Maldives stood at 33,000.
Edelweiss becomes the ninth international carrier resuming its operations to Maldives since border reopening.
