State debt reach MVR172bn; Parliamentary Report


A recent parliamentary report suggests the total state debt is currently at MVR172 billion.

Moreover, the parliamentary copy suggests collective loans from a total of 49 international governments reach MVR13 billion.

On the other hand, loans from other international bodies; monetary and loan aid, is at MVR12.9 billion from a total of 124 different loan instruments.

Meanwhile, a total of 114 state guarantees to state-owned enterprises stood at MVR41 billion.

Total outstanding bills from state and state-owned enterprises stood at MVR5.4 billion.

Furthermore, the report suggest over-draft from state-owned enterprises stood at MVR78 million.

State debt also include loans, bonds and treasury bills from Maldives Monetary Authority (MMA) observed at MVR7.4 billion.

Additionally, bonds and T-Bills from state to other parties stood at MVR91.9 billion.
