Maldives government on Monday, 09 November, announces the state budget for 2021.
Moreover, Minister of Finance Ibrahim Ameer who made the revelation during the parliamentary session to present the state budget, notes challenges in revenue for the upcoming year as well.
Minister Ameer confirms, as per the state budget for 2021, Maldives expect only MVR17.8 billion in revenue, inclusive of grants.
Meanwhile, due to the presence of the Covid-19 global pandemic, state places extra measures towards health sector.
As such, the 2021 state budget confirms the disbursement of MVR4 billion towards the sector.
Furthermore, Maldives government will develop tertiary health facilities in five various regions of the country in the upcoming year.
Additionally, all local islands with pending water and sewerage projects will observe commencement in 2021.
Minister Ameer also emphasizes on the importance of preserving and promoting agriculture in Maldives. In such regard, the minister confirms 2021 state budget will assist in agricultural projects as well.
