CMDA appoints former Deputy Governor as new chairperson

The Capital Market Development Authority (CMDA) finds their newest chairperson in former Deputy Governor Ms. Aishath Zahira.

Moreover, Ms. Zahira filled responsibilities as the country’s Deputy Governor until 2020.

Ms. Zahira will be CMDA’s new Chairperson effective 10 January 2021, with accordance to Maldives Securities Law (Law No: 2/2006) Section 6(b).

CMDA, an independent institution under Maldives Securities Act is responsible for regulating and developing the Maldives Capital Market.

Furthermore, CMDA has regulatory mandate of supervising Maldives Pension Administration Office (MPAO).

Under their mandate towards MPAO, CMDA supervises the administering of Maldives Retirement Pension Scheme (MRPS)) under the Maldives Pension Act (8/2009).
