Green tax collection over MVR93mn in March 2021

Ministry of Finance revealed recently, the Green Tax collection for the month of March 2021.

The most surprising aspect of Green Tax collections for the review month as reported by the ministry is that upper-south Faafu atoll had not made any collection in the period.

Moreover, the atoll is singled out as the only area in the island nation to have failed to generate any income from Green Tax for March 2021.

Meanwhile, Male’ situated Kaafu atoll leads as usual with a collection of MVR32,280,917.67, with the exclusion of Male’ City.

The Maldives capital generated a Green Tax collection of MVR621,933.80 during the review period.

On the other hand, Alif Dhaal atoll remains the second stronger region in terms of Green Tax collection with a total figure of MVR18,660,264.43.

Other prominent atolls in terms of Green Tax collection include, Baa atoll with a total of MVR9,666,107.06, Raa atoll with a total of MVR7,045,043.09 and Dhaal atoll with a total of MVR5,716,552.62.

Total collection in Green Tax from tourist properties including resorts, hotels and guesthouses with the exclusion of liveaboards or vessels reached MVR92,256,115.75.

Furthermore, with the Green Tax collection of MVR1,186,940.64 from liveaboards or vessels exclusively the sum total of Green Tax collected to state for the period was MVR93,443,056.39.
