Maldives Tourism industry reports USD613mn in revenue


Maldives Monetary Authority (MMA) in their latest quarterly bulletin reveals that the country’s tourism industry generated income receipts of over USD613 million.

Moreover, according to the findings by Maldives central bank, the increment in guest-stay duration for the first quarter of 2021 resulted in a revenue bump.

Previously the average guest-stay was recorded at 7.6-days, however, guests are spending 8.9-days on average according to the latest reports.

Furthermore, this increase in average guest-stay reflected towards an increment in revenue of USD28 million (MVR432 million).
