Maldives head of state Ibrahim Mohamed Solih on Tuesday, 15 June, has met with local salon owners to discuss business challenges amid Covid-19 pandemic.
Through the virtual meeting, Maldives President had discussed on the various challenges faced by salon owners and operators through pandemic and safety restrictions imposed by health agencies.
Meanwhile, President’s Office Spokesperson Mabrooq Azeez notified that President Solih had assured local salon owners on relaxing restrictions, which would be introduced with challenges and economic setbacks kept in mind.
Salons along with restaurants and cafeterias have been ordered to temporarily shut down walk-ins and dine-ins respectively in light of surging Covid-19 cases across Greater Male’ Region.
While the Greater Male’ Region had come under stricter restrictive measures for a second time, effective from 6 May 2021 onwards, it is still uncertain when the measures will be relaxed.
However, Maldives government recently made headlines with their announcement of discussions underway to introduce easements on the restrictions.
It is expected that the government will bring about said relaxation on the restrictive measures sometime in the current or following week.
