Male’ City receives electricity following afternoon “blackout”

STELCO run powerhouse in Male’ City

State Electric Company Limited (STELCO) has resumed electricity connection in Male’ City after a sudden power “blackout” on Wednesday afternoon, 21 July.

Earlier on Wednesday, the country’s capital city faced power failure while STELCO technicians were attempting on circuit-energizing works of the Greater Male’ electrical grid.

The Greater Male’ Electrical Grid is considered as the largest energy related project across Maldives so far. Moreover, the utility corporation alerted on possible electricity outages in the coming days during the testing phase.

While the testing phase of the electricity grid is drawing close towards a completion, STELCO had further attested that cautionary updates will be available on the company’s social media handles over possible power cuts.
