“Enriching digital lives”; Ooredoo celebrates 16 years of service


Telecommunication provider, Ooredoo Maldives commemorates 16 of “enriching digital lives”, today.

Ooredoo Maldives through their official Twitter handle expressed gratitude, extended to all of its customers, partners and employees for their love and support.

The company’s CEO Mr. Najib Khan was also thankful to the customers and affiliates in his video message, while reminiscing about the company’s start 16 years back.

“During our 16 years of journey, our mission has been to provide inclusive access to hihg-quality services and connect local communities to the benefits of the digital world,” Mr. Khan comments, adding “we are truly looking forward, towards a historic 17th year.”

Formerly known as Wataniya Maldives, the telecommunication and internet service provider is a sister company under Qatari based multinational telecommunication conglomerate Ooredoo QSC.

Ooredoo Maldives was launched on 01 August 2005, known back then as Wataniya; becoming the very first telecommunications competitor to the Maldivian based Dhiraagu.
