Island Aviation pilots cease protest following salary increment assurance

According to latest updates, the ongoing strikes by pilots of Island Aviation have come to a stop after receiving assurance of salary increase before January of the coming year.

Earlier, pilots of Island Aviation strengthened their protests due to the company’s decision of paying the reduced salary, which came into effect in 2020 following the Covid-19 outbreak.

Meanwhile, many of the company’s pilots addressed their grievances of the continued reduced pay despite the company’s progress in the current year.

Moreover, the Managing Director of Island Aviation Mr. Mohamed Mihadh had confirmed on paying 80% of the salary effective now, while he had affirmed resumption of full salary before January 2022.

Furthermore, the pilots have requested from the company to make their pledges official as insurance.

Recently it was reported that Maldives President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has requested to personally meet with the pilots of Island Aviation and listen to their concerns.

Earlier, the company had reduced salaries of its pilots by 40% in the wake of the Covid-19 pandemic.
