Over 800,000 holidaymakers arrive in Maldives so far in 2021

TGST collection saw improvement in light of modest increment in tourism field in comparison with 2020

Ministry of Tourism reveal the latest tourist arrival figure to Maldives, confirming the count has exceeded 800,000 already.

As per the state body, the total arrival from 01 January until 13 September has reached 809,764 indicating a 104.4% increase in comparison with the same period last year.

Meanwhile, the total tourist arrival count during the same period in 2020 stood at 396,129 owing to the Covid-19 pandemic’s impact.

Furthermore, as per the ministry the highest tourist influx was recorded on 12 September, Sunday of the current week with an arrival total of 4,862. According to the latest statistics, the daily average of tourist arrivals to Maldives exceed 4,000.

Moreover, the trend of source market observes India taking over Russia to become the strongest source market to Maldives, contributing 22.4% of the total tourist arrivals to the island nation.

As for the previous top source market, Russia has contributed 20.4% of the total arrivals the island nation.
