Tourist arrivals to Maldives exceed 890,000 by first week of October

The latest published report from Ministry of Tourism reveal that the total number of tourist arrivals to Maldives has reached 890,363 as of 05th October – by the first week of the review month.

According to the statistics from the ministry, tourist arrivals exclusively from 01 to 05 October hit 19,501 which is a 521.1% increment in comparison with the same period in 2020, where the arrival total stood at 3,140.

Though arrivals observed significant improvement in 2021, compared with the same period in 2020 it is still a 15.6% decrement in the review period when compared with the corresponding period of 2019 where the arrival count reached 23,111.

Meanwhile, India maintains top source market position with an arrival total of 204,530 which is 23.0% of the total tourist arrivals to the Maldives so far.

Furthermore, Russia is at second rank with an arrival total of 174,095 so far which is 19.6% of the total arrivals to the Maldives.

Germany is at third rank with an arrival count of 55,707 which is 6.3% of the total tourist arrivals, USA at fourth spot with an arrival total of 36,175 which is 4.1% of the total arrivals to the Maldives.

Moreover, Saudi Arabia which is an emerging source market to the Maldives is currently at fifth spot with a total arrival of 30,782 so far, which is 3.5% of the total arrivals.
