MTCC cancels several ferry trips due to bad weather conditions

Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) on Sunday, 17 October, has reported on cancelling several ferry trips due to bad weather conditions.

Moreover, the state-owned enterprise which runs the strongest ferry network in the country reported that 26 of its planned ferry trips have been cancelled on Sunday, from which 23 cancellations were due to bad weather.

The Maldives Meteorological Service has already issued a yellow-alert effective on the area between Haa Alif to Thaa atolls.

In addition to this, the weather authority claimed that winds are expected to be strong between 25 to 30 miles-per-hour and gusts will reach a maximum speed of 50 miles-per-hour.

Meanwhile, the strong winds across the country has resulted in seas becoming rougher in recent weeks while relevant authorities have cautioned the public from traveling via sea unless absolutely necessary.
