Maldives reach 90% of tourist arrival projections for 2021

Tourism sector showed strong growth during the review quarter

The recent updates from Ministry of Tourism confirm tourist arrivals to Maldives reached over 923,000.

Furthermore, with this arrival total the island nation has already crossed 90% of the project tourist arrivals set in the 2021 budget.

According to the projections included in the budget for the current fiscal year, the island nation hoped to attract a total of 01 million tourists to Maldives by the end of 2021.

Meanwhile, the official Twitter handle of Government of Maldives confirmed that the country was among the first to open its borders to tourists while 93% of the resort employees have already been fully vaccinated against Covid-19.

The island nation will be celebrating 50 years of its tourism industry in the coming year, while the countdown ceremony was recently launched for the event slated for 2022.
