Japan extends grant of MVR1.17mn for local school upgrade project


The Japanese Government has extended a grant of JPY 8,173,332 (approximately MVR1,166,970) towards the upgrade of a school premises in one of the local islands in the Maldives.

As such, the grant will be put to the upgrade project of Nilandhoo School in the island of Nilandhoo, Gaaf Alif atoll. Moreover, the grant aid falls under Japan’s Grant Assistance for Grass Roots Human Security Projects (GGP) scheme.

Moreover, the agreement was signed between Ms. Yanai Keiko, the Ambassador of Japan to the Maldives and Ms. Khadheeja Ibrahim, the Principal of Nilandhoo School during a ceremony held on Wednesday, 24th November.

Furthermore, the school upgrade project will be implemented with the support of Ministry of Education.
