According to the latest statistical updates from Ministry of Tourism, the annual total tourist arrivals to Maldives reached 1,197,409 as of 08 December 2021.
Meanwhile, the daily tourist arrival average has increased to 4,970 as review date. On the other hand, the tourist arrivals from 01 to 08 December reached 39,756.
The arrival total from 01 to 08 December is still 0.5% below pre-pandemic levels, during the same period in 2019 the arrival count stood at 39,950. However, when compared with the same period in 2020 the arrival count observed a growth of 141.7% in the review period – since the arrival total in 2020 for the same period stood at just 16,450.
According to the statistics, India continues to remain as the strongest source market to Maldives with an annual arrival total of 269,664 (22.5%). Other major source markets to the island nation include;
- Russia (2nd) – 208,351 arrivals (17.4%)
- Germany (3rd) – 86,233 arrivals (7.2%)
- USA (4th) – 50,438 arrivals (4.2%)
- UK (5th) – 49,279 arrivals (4.1%)
