State Electric Company Limited (STELCO) has affirmed the utility provider will complete upgrading of Vaavu atoll Fulidhoo electricity distribution network before the end of January 2022.
According to the utility provider, they will be laying 1,807 meters of cables under ground as part of the upgrade works.
While STELCO is hopeful to complete the project before the end of current month, the utility provider had earlier in December 2021 installed and commenced operating a new STW300 generator set at the island to increase the total power output capacity.
With the addition of the new STW300 class, the residential island’s power output capacity has increased from 499 kilo Watts to 779 kilo Watts.
The STW class generators are directly assembled under STELCO’s homegrown workshop STEWO. The workshop has launched a total of three different variants of the STW generator class which include the 300, 600 and 800 class generators.
