According to the Ministry of Tourism, it has awarded a total of seven islands to developers for tourist resort development.
The islands were won by bidders from the original list of 21 uninhabited slips listed back in 2021 for resort development, by the ministry.
Meanwhile, the state body has publicized on 20 April, Wednesday, the official acquisition and training fund cost of all seven islands. From the awarded islands, the highest acquisition cost was reported at USD3.6 million while the lowest was at USD390,000.
The ministry declared a sixty day period for developers to settle 50% the acquisition and training fund cost as well as to complete the environmental impact analysis.
Furthermore, the ministry notified that the islands that did not attract bidders in this round will be re-listed with some amendments in the next round.
