State Electric Company Limited (STELCO) announces plans to develop a new powerhouse in Greater Male’ Region with the capacity for 100-MegaWatt power output.
The utility provider’s Managing Director Mr. Ahmed Shareef, confirms the new initiative during an interview with Public Service Media (PSM) on Tuesday evening, July 19.
STELCO front-man further notifies the utility corporation is executing preliminary technical works before the development of the powerhouse outlet.
Initial plans included for the development of a powerhouse with a maximum capacity of 50-MegaWatt output, however relevant authorities recommended the utility company to increment the maximum capacity to 70-MegaWatt.
STELCO MD further confirms assessment for optimum financial model was underway, adding that window for proposal submission will be opened soon. The utility company estimates commencing the development phase during the first quarter of 2023.
The corporation will develop its new powerhouse outlet in the empty plot next to ‘Fifth Power Project’ at the satellite town of Hulhumale’ Phase I.
