UAE Budget Airline Air Arabia to Double Flights to Maldives

United Arab Emirates budget airline Air Arabia is set to double its flights to the Maldives later this year, according to Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL).

The low-cost carrier, which launched direct flights between Sharjah and Malé a year ago, currently operates one daily flight on the route. Beginning 27 October, Air Arabia will increase its service to two daily flights.

Air Arabia operates scheduled flights spanning the Middle East, North Africa, the Indian subcontinent, Central Asia, and Europe. From its main hub at Sharjah International Airport, the airline serves 28 destinations in 9 countries.

The Arabian market is a key focus area for Maldives’ tourism growth, and this expansion is expected to significantly support that effort. It will also provide more opportunities for Maldivians to travel to the Arab world.

In addition, MACL will open its new terminal this July. Combined with the previously inaugurated Code F runway, the Maldives is expected to see a rise in inbound travelers, as the upgraded infrastructure will accommodate more airlines and increased flight traffic.
