Thailand the majority importer of Maldivian tuna

Thailand is the majority importer of Maldivian fish products, Maldives Customs Service statistic shows.

Majority of Maldivian exports is frozen skipjack tuna (stripe-bellied bonito), followed by skipjack tuna (prepared or preserved), yellowfin tuna (fresh or chilled), yellow fish tuna loins (fresh or chilled), or frozen yellow fin tuna belly glass.

In June 2022 alone, 60% of all exports from Maldives was to Thailand, valued at MVR 148 million.

This is an increase in exports since December 2021, when Thailand only held 37% of exports.

The next major exporting country in June is Germany with 10%, followed by UK with 6%, and India and France with 3%.
