Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) on Wednesday reported the arrival of buses in their destination islands to commence the Raajje-Transport Link services.
MTCC said 2 buses have reached Laamu Atoll Isdhoo and 4 buses have reached Laamu Atoll Gan.
Earlier this month, MTCC said 36 buses have been brought to Maldives for the RTL service, which will be operated in Laamu Atoll Isdhoo-Kalaidhoo and Gan-Fonadhoo, in addition to Male’ City, Addu City, and Fuvahmulah City.
The bus service is under the Raajje Transport Link (RTL), the government’s project to connect the country with a quality transport system. RTL system consist of transportation via ferry and bus services.
Earlier, MTCC released the bus routes and operation details for the RTL bus service. In Laamu Mainland (Gan-Fonadhoo), 5 buses will operate in 3 routes and in Isdhoo-Kalaidhoo 2 buses will operate in 1 route.
Noting that the new buses will have a capacity of 18 or 20 people, MTCC said they aim to operate and provide better bus services to the people at the earliest opportunity.
