Ooredoo Maldives celebrates 17 years of operations by expanding on its 5G network service for Greater Male’.
Ooredoo’s Chief Commercial Officer Hussain Niyaz announced that the 5G network will be available for mobile phones in the Male’, Hulhumale’ Phase I, and Villimale region at a special news conference held on Monday.
The company also announced special offers in lieu of their anniversary – customers with post-paid packages of MVR 800 and above also will get their data package doubled on Monday, he said.
Niyaz also revealed further plans for expansions of their submarine cable network to K. Maafushi, N. Velidhoo, R. Dhuvaafaru, A. dh Dhangethi, and A. Dh Maamigili. Ooredoo is also planning on installing a submarine cable connected to the European server in H. Dh Kulhudhuffushi, which will speed up connectivity for video streaming, gaming, etc.
Ooredoo Maldives Managing Director & CEO, Khalid Al Hamadi noted that the company was the first to introduce 5G in the country, and hopes to expand the network to other islands across the nation.
