Global coral restoration project announces Maldives Ambassador

ShebaHopeGrows, an initiative by Mars Global to restore coral reefs across the globe, announced it’s Maldives Ambassador on Friday.

Ahmed Aiham, whose work includes coral restoration with local environmental NGO Save the Beach, has been named ShebaHopeGrows Ambassador.

“What an honour it is to represent and be part of the world’s largest coral reef restoration effort. With strong ties to both our food security and tourist income, restoring reefs across The Maldives is essential to preserve our seafaring lifestyle, and to help mitigate the severe impacts of climate change.” Aiham said in a post released by ShebaHopeGrows.

Aiham is currently working with ShebaHopeGrows UK Ambassador Rebecca Daniels to plant coral frames in Baa Atoll Fulhadhoo with the Maldives Coral Institute.
