President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has decided to hold the celebrations and official reception to mark the 42nd National Fishermen’s Day in Gaaf Dhaal Atoll Faresmaathodaa.

The decision came following a cabinet meeting held to deliberate on a paper submitted by the Ministry of Fisheries, Marine Resources and Agriculture.

Since 1989, December 10 has been celebrated as National Fishermen’s Day in the Maldives. In 2021, it was celebrated in Kaafu Atoll Gaafaru, therefore it was decided this year’s official event to be held in a southern atoll.

Moreover, President Solih also decided to hold the official receptions for the National Farmers’ Day and World Food Day would be held in Kaafu Atoll Kaashidhoo this year.
