Ministry of Tourism has revealed three new resorts have opened so far this year and providing an additional 1166 beds for tourism.
The Ministry of Tourism expects 10 new resorts to be opened this year.
The government is providing necessary assistance to investors to open the resorts allocated for tourism at a fast pace.
Newly opened resorts so far this year:
- Alila Kothaifaru Maldives – 160 beds
- Aanugandu Falhu:
- OBLU SELECT Lobigili – 68 Villas
- OBLU XPERIENCE Ailafushi – 268 Villas
- Hilton Amingiri Resort & Spa – 238 beds
In an interview with PSM News, Tourism Minister Dr. Abdulla Maumoon said that investors face hindrances in the development of the resorts.
Minister said as China has not opened its border, some resorts are facing delays in getting necessary materials for the resort development.
According to the latest statistics from the Ministry of Tourism, there are 164 resorts operating in Maldives as of September 13. That is 40053 beds. A total of 170 resorts are registered to operate in the country, with 41175 beds.
