Oaga’s open call for artists deadline extended to Friday night

Oaga Art Resort is looking for local artisans to showcase their work at their Oaga Art Galleries – Fannuverin Fathuruverinnah (from creatives to tourists!).

The pre-opening property has distinguished itself in the Maldives’ tourist market by prioritizing art, creativity, culture, and heritage as it’s main identity. Located in the north of North Male’ atoll, the island is just a short ferry trip away from the capital and is capsizing on it’s accessibility to draw local artists to the resort.

Oaga Resorts aim is “to build distinctive creative products that are resonant to the Maldives’ deep island history, culture and heritage.” The resort has showcased traditions such as the making of haalufoshi in northern Maldives, contemporary art such as graffiti, and is also reviving words used by ancestral Maldivians for greetings as part of it’s online marketing.

At a time when the Maldivian art sector is growing and expanding, with artist showcasing their artwork locally, internationally, or digitally, the resort is sourcing talent of all types to display their work at the resort. As such the resort has placed no limitations on what type of art mediums people can apply with.

Application is open on their website.

The deadline for registration is Friday, September 16.
