Maldives to hold IFAWPCA’s 45th Convention in November

The 45th Convention of International Federation of Asian and Western Pacific Contractors’ Associations (IFAWPCA) is set to be held in November 2022, in Maldives.

The annual IFAWPCA meeting is one of the largest regional meetings on construction. Initially to be held in 2020, the convention had to be rescheduled twice due to the COVID-19 outbreak. The 45th convention is finally set to be held from November 15-19, 2022 in the Maldives.

The theme of this year’s convention is “Construction with Conservation – Build a Better World”.

The convention will be attended by 20 Asia Pacific countries and about 10 UN associations, and countries will present their country reports at the five-day convention.

Maldives National Association of Construction Industry (MNACI) said the convention would bring several benefits to Maldives as it is attended by the most prominent auteurs in the construction industry from 20 Asia Pacific countries. “It will be a great time for Maldivian contractors, businessmen and developers to meet and talk with them,” MNACI said.

This is the first time an IFAWPCA meeting is scheduled to be held in Maldives. Last meeting was held in Malaysia in 2018. At the meeting, MNACI President Mohamed Ali Janah was elected as the president of IFAWPCA for the current period.

The annual IFAWPCA meeting discusses ways to strengthen the construction sector at a regional level and how companies can do cooperative work regionally. The multinational participants will also deliberate on ways to find solutions to the problems within the construction sector.
