Maldives Monetary Authority (MMA) has revealed the MVR 50 banknotes has been minted due to a decreased stock.
The central bank confirmed the newly minted banknotes have been deposited in the state treasury. MMA said the new stock was brought to the country on September 25.
The new banknote series, called “Ran Dhiha Faheh” was launched in January 2016, in commemoration of the Golden Jubilee of Maldives Independence in 2015.
The new banknotes series are safe and easy to carry, an upgrade from the previous notes.
According to some of the security features of these notes, the serial number will be illuminated by ultraviolet light. The face value of the note is illuminated in ultraviolet light, which is not visible in ordinary light.
