Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) has confirmed on completing the physical works of R. Rasmaadhoo coastal protection project. The work was completed on September 29, Thursday.
Project scope involved construction of a 381 meters groyne. The project value is MVR13.2 million.
The state-owned enterprise (SOE) largely focused on infrastructure development projects involving land reclamation, harbor construction, shore protection and other similar large-scale initiatives recently acquired a second dredger to amp up its efforts.
MTCC’s projects across the country, at ongoing capacity, mainly involves harbor construction while it undertakes development of regional airports as well.
Under its transport segment, MTCC earlier launched its ambitious Raajje-Transport Link (RTL) which will see all residential islands across the administrative atolls linked via high-speed ferries. Atolls under the first phase; Haa Alif, Haa Dhaal and Shaviyani, already enjoy fast speed ferry service that has enhanced greater connectivity among the communities. Moreover, under the same initiative it has launched mini-bus services in the heaviest populated areas in the Maldives, including Male’ City.
With the commencement of mini-bus services in Male’ City, earlier in September, the city has welcomed public transport after it had been absent for well over a decade.
