Tourist arrivals climb 38%, total arrivals at 1.2 million


According to the most recent Ministry of Tourism figures, 1,213,103 tourists visited Maldives as of October 4. This is a 38% increase compared to the tourist arrivals by the end of September 2021.

The number of arrivals this year has climbed by 38% compared to the same period last year.

According to the Tourism Ministry, an average of 4,379 tourists come daily and remain for an average of 8 days.

India remains the highest tourist market making up 14.2% of the total arrivals. Russia is ranked in second with 12%. The United Kingdom ranks third with 11%.

Maldives has 1,185 tourism facilities open for business, with an overall bed capacity of 58,493.

The government have set a goal of attracting 1.6 million visitors by the end of the year.
