Various cruiseliners are setting sail to Maldives coinciding with the winter season.

On Sunday, December 4, tourists disembarked to Male’ City from a cruisliner. This is the first time passengers disembarked from a cruiseliner since early 2020, before the outbreak and the border closure.

The cruiseliner, Seven Seas Explora, arrived with 600 tourists disembarking to the capital city. The tourists visited some resorts and nearby islands. The ship is 236 meters long. Reports says the cruiseliner was traveling from Bangalore, India and will set sail to Thailand after its stop in Maldives.

Reportedly more cruiseliners are expected to arrive in the Maldives in the following weeks. The winter season is the peak season in Maldives’ tourism industry. The number of tourists coming to Maldives during the winter season hikes exponentially compared to other months.
