Maldives national carrier will be effectively bumping up charges on excess baggage.
Island Aviation Services, which operates Maldivian Airline, confirmed travelers will be charged USD3.11 per excess kilogram from some regional airports. This change will be reflected on the excess baggage charges claimed at Maavarulu, Kooddoo, Kaadehdhoo airports.
The airline decided surging excess baggage fees to strengthen sustainability measures, confirmed the Deputy Managing Director of Maldivian Aishath Jennifer. The charges come post market evaluation, and Jennifer asserts the new fees remained below current market rates.

- Hanimaadhoo, Hoarafushi and Kulhudhuffushi: MVR36 per excess kilogram
- Ifuru, Maafaru and Madivaru: MVR30
- Funadhoo: MVR36
- Dharavandhoo and Thimarafushi: MVR24
- Kahdhoo: MVR36
- Kooddoo, Kaadehdhoo and Maarvarulu: MVR 48 (USD3.11)
- Fuvahmulah: MVR57
- Gan: MVR60
