Bright Brothers, one of the first companies to start a large-scale supermarket business in Maldives, has decided to close two of its largest AGORA stores.
According to reports, Bright Brothers are set to close down the Agora supermarkets in Majeedhee Magu and Sosan Magu, later in December. No explanation has been disclosed why the over 15-years old stores are closing shop.
The two stores are set to close and both buildings will be leased by RedWave. RedWave is currently working on opening their flagship supermarkets in the same locations by January 2023.
Despite two of its major stores in prime locations closing down, Bright Brothers’ Agora supermarket in Chaandhanee Magu will continue to operate, a company official confirmed.
It hasn’t been a flagship store for along time. Most of the items are out of stock for most of the time recently. One whole floor of the floor was just full of Tupperware s and there was very little variety and choices of products for a long time now.
