STELCO to facilitate scholarship opportunities

State Electric Company (STELCO) is planning to facilitate two scholarship opportunities for higher secondary graduates.

The decision was announced by STELCO Managing Director Ahmed Shareef at the company’s 73rd anniversary commemoration ceremony.

Speaking at the ceremony, Shareef noted the importance of capacity and professional development. He emphasized the need to train future energy industry professionals.

He further confirmed the company spend MVR 7 million annually towards professional and human assets development. The primary objective of the initiative is creating more energy industry personnel.

STELCO, under different names, began providing electricity commercially on December 20, 1949. Modern day STELCO saw inception in 1997.
