Maldives promoted at MATKA Nordic Travel Fair 2023

Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC) is taking part in the MATKA Nordic Travel Fair 2023.

The travel trade fair commenced on January 19 and will run until January 22. This year’s event is held at the Messukeskus Helsinki Expo and Convention Center, Helsinki, Finland.

The Maldives tourism board is accompanied by 13 industry partners, while this is the first time MMPRC is taking part in the MATKA event since 2020.

The MATKA Nordic Travel Fair is the largest travel fair in the Northern Europe, bringing together over 1,000 travel organizers, destinations, and tourism groups from over 80 countries.

This year’s event is expected to attract over 68,000 visitors.

Part of MMPRC’s objective in participating in the fair is to strengthen the country’s tourism brand presence in the Nordic Market. Additionally, MMPRC aims to provide an extensive networking platform for industry partners and enhance access to ground-breaking insights into industry trends and patterns.

The Nordic market is a promising tourist market to the Maldives. In 2022, the Maldives Ministry of Tourism reported a total of 30,493 annual travelers from the region.

MMPRC conducted several campaigns in the region last year, which included campaigns with Blixen tours, a media familiarization trip with top Nordic publications, and a webinar for the region’s travel trades.

According to the tourism promoter, in line with the marketing strategy for the Nordic market, MMPRC will work with airlines, tour operators, and other travel industry vendors to strengthen brand presence.

While MMPRC has already participated in two major international travel trade fairs including the MATKA Nordic Travel Fair, the promoter conducted over 90 tourism programs, attended 42 fairs, and hosted 6 roadshows last year. Additionally, it held 10 virtual events, 18 familiarization trips, and 10 other events in 2022.
