MTCC updates progress of two shore protection projects

Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) has provided progress on two shore protection projects; in Th. Buruni and S. Hithadhoo.

According to MTCC, the shore protection project at Buruni is currently underway with breakwater construction reaching 20% completion. The beach area backfilling work has reached 27% completion.

The scope of the project includes beach filling of 21,181.80 cubic meters of sand, construction of a 220-meter revetment, and a 369-meter breakwater. The project value is MVR 27.2 million.

As for the shore protection project in Hithadhoo, MTCC claimed revetment construction work has reached 53% completion.

The scope of work for the project includes dredging operations of 975 cubic meters of swimming area, beach filling and profiling works of 6,891 cubic meters, construction of a 100-meter breakwater, and a 570-meter revetment. The project value is MVR10.9 million.
