The Ministry of Tourism has once again urged all registered accommodation facilities and water recreational services providers to bolster safety measures for all water-based activities.
The ministry first gave the reminder on April 17, 2022, and has reminded once again following the recent string of incidents related to water-based activities. The ministry further advised all tourist facilities to be vigilant and to take precautionary measures, especially during swimming, snorkeling, diving, and similar recreational activities.
Tourist facilities are also encouraged to conduct general safety briefings to guests during check-ins. The facilities are also advised to provide detailed safety briefings before any water-based activity operated by the facility commences.
In addition to this, the ministry urged tourist accommodation facilities to conduct regular training and awareness sessions for staff involved in water sports activities, and encourage staff to strictly follow safety protocols.
