Maldives President inaugurates Faresmaathoda Airport

The President of Maldives Ibrahim Mohamed Solih on Wednesday evening, March 15, officially inaugurated the newly developed GDh. Faresmaathoda Airport.

President Solih inaugurated the airport at a ceremony held on Wednesday evening, to which the Minister of National Planning, Housing, and Infrastructure Mohamed Aslam, Minister of Transport and Civil Aviation Aishath Nahula, and the CEO and Managing Director of Regional Airports Company Limited (RACL) Mohamed Rizvee attended.

Additionally, Adam Azim, the CEO of Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC); the project’s contractor, attended as well.

MTCC said that it was a “great pleasure to witness the official opening” of the airport and extended gratitude to the Maldives government and Faresmaathoda Council for their support.

MTCC constructed a 7,543-square-meter shoulder runway, apron, and taxiway, along with the construction of a fire station, fire-fighting facilities, installed navigational lights and a 3.40-kilometer boundary and secondary fence, and a passenger terminal.
