STELCO urges customers to save electricity

The State Electricity Company (STELCO) has urged its customers to save electricity amid the ongoing hot season in the Maldives.

The hot season often drives up electricity usage since consumers extensively use electricity, especially air-conditioners.

Meanwhile, STELCO Managing Director Ahmed Shareef has advised consumers to economize electricity, urging to use appliances if and when required. He had further advised to prioritize purchasing appliances with low-electricity usage or that reduce excess heat, such as inverters.

While the country experiences its hottest period usually in April, the Maldives Meteorological Center has reported that temperatures will rise up to 39 degrees Celsius in Greater Male’ region and to 40 degrees Celsius in Hanimaadhoo and Kadhdhoo.
