The island council of Gaafu Dhaalu atoll Thinadhoo has announced issuance of 150 plots from the island for housing, which falls under the island’s land use plan.
According to the council, plots between the size of 1,500 and 2,000 square feet will be issued under the plan. The plots will be issued under five different categories, and the land plots will be issued to;
- Residents of the island: 70 plots
- Non-residents: 66 plots
- Single parents: 5 plots
- Non-residents with businesses operated in Thinadhoo: 3 plots
- Individuals providing services in professional fields: 6 plots
The application form to apply for the plots will be available from May 18 onwards on everyday except public holidays, between 09:00hrs and 13:00hrs. The council further confirmed the application window’s deadline is until 13:00hrs on June 1, 2023.
The council notes that successful applicants must develop the plots to livable extent upon receiving the plots. Livable extent is gauged based on whether the constructed building has all necessary facilities that warrant a livable condition; which includes bedrooms, toilet, kitchen, and the building should be roofed.
