STO acquires jet fuel specific barge

State Trading Organization (STO) has acquired a barge specifically designed to deliver jet fuel in the Maldives.

STO said that the vessel ‘Laganaa’ was commissioned to deliver Jet A-1 fuel to Maafaru International Airport under STO’s agreement with Island Aviation Services. The company said the new barge will solve the issue of safely delivering fuel across the country.

The vessel meets all necessary safety standards and quality assurance codes and comes with aviation industry standard filters which makes it the first vessel in the Maldives to meet all industry requirements.

The 200-cubic meter storage capacity barge is equipped with all required fuel gauging devices and state-of-the-art equipment. STO added that the company has provided necessary training, operation manuals, and other documents to the vessel’s crew.

Additionally, STO has installed a quality assurance system that can trace the quality of the Jet A-1 fuel from refinery up to delivering in accordance with industry best practices. STO will collect oil samples from each transfer point which will then be tested in their laboratory in Male’ City.

The jet fuel specific barge was designed and developed with the consultancy of Hansa Consultant Projects.
