UNDP, Ooredoo to Fund Best Submissions to Miaheli Program

United Nations Development Program (UNDP) and Ooredoo Maldives announces they will fund two of the best submissions sent into their ‘Miaheli’ initiative.

UNDP and telecommunications service provider Ooredoo partnered up to bring ‘Miaheli’, to bring in sustainable solutions to the issues facing Maldives. Four parties entered the program, conducted in Thinadhoo Island in Vaavu Atoll.

Teams ‘Paradise Salt’ and ‘Team We Share’ were judged as the best two entrants into the competition. ‘Paradise Salt’ proposed to produce salt, while ‘Team We Share’ proposed a system centralized on reuse.

UNDP and Ooredoo had announced that they will be investing US$ 3,000 on each of the projects, fostering them into valuable investments. Additionally, the two teams will be given a yearlong internship with experts in various business fields, facilitated by the Business Center Corporation.

Participants reported having picked up vital team building lessons, as well as team building lessons, conflict resolution, marketing and mentor’s assistance.

This is the third edition of ‘Miaheli’. This year’s edition is supported by Business Center Corporation and the Government of Australia.
